Installation
- Install Camstudio Lossless Codec – just run the installation file you’ve downloaded
- Unzip CamStudio.2.5.b1.bin.zip to your hard disk. Create shortcut for Recorder.exe and place it to your desktop for convenience
You might use previous version – Camstudio 2.0, it doesn’t make much difference. You can download it from here: http://www.camstudio.org/CamStudio20.exe
Setup
The most essential setup parameters are shown on the figure below. Go to Options -> Video Options and set these values to get optimal quality and size of the screencast video file.

Tips
- Use keyboard shortcuts to Record, Pause and Stop recording. If you use mouse for these operations Camstudio might popup its window and record itself to the video you’re capturing. Setup the shortcuts in Options -> Keyboard shortcuts
- We convert the screencasts you upload to 800×600 resolution, so for better quality you should capture the screencasts of similar resolution
- If the application window that you screencast doesn’t take the whole computer’s screen, use Region or Window modes instead of Full screen in Camstudio, it will ensure better quality
